Latest Senate Unemployment News--Is There A Vote Coming June 24 or June 25?

What's the latest Senate Unemployment news? Is there a possible vote coming on June 24 or June 25? If so, it appears the vote would just be procedural. The Democrats are testing the waters to see if they have the 60 out of 100 votes it would take to pass the bill-which includes the 2010 Unemployment Benefits Extension.

Here is the latest national report from Reuters. The broad bill, including the 2010 Unemployment Benefits Extension, is still receiving criticism for it's high cost. So that means the procedural vote on June 24 or June 25 might not make it through. Then again it just may. Perhaps the Democrats will keep changing it until they get confirmation they have the 60 votes required.

The Senate procedural vote on unemployment would be a huge step. But as I said on my Associated Content story late tonight--it will unfortunately not be the last step. Those wishing to get retro pay or even this week's check may be waiting still for some time. In a perfect world, the Senate would pass the bill late this week and next week would mark a fresh start for many of us jobless Americans who have been without checks for 1-3 weeks. An estimated 1.2 million who have exhausted benefits through the original 26 weeks, Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 will now be without benefits in the coming week. It's a very scary thought as we went what will be the fourth total week of debate by the United States Senate. A Senate vote on unemployment kind of does seem like progress at this point. It seems like just enough to give us hope that this 2010 Unemployment Benefits Extension is not dead yet.

What can we do until then? Many of us are spending very little and sticking to the tightest budgets in our lives as we continue to search for jobs and wait for the continuation of 2010 Unemployment Benefits Extensions.
It's a frustrating situation but there are many jobless Americans in the same boat-sinking or not. I still believe there is strength in numbers and I think that will speak volumes as that number grows to epic proportions. I dare to say the 2010 Unemployment Benefits Extensions are inevitable--but the timing will not be a good thing for so many people who will be devastated by this complete lack of urgency on the part of our United States Senate. It's agonizing to watch the roller coaster of emotions and comments from jobless Americans who are suffering at the hands of the very politicians they elected.
