Is the 2010 Unemployment Benefits Extension finally coming? It seems like the wait has been forever and a day. The United States Senate has inevitably pushed back a bill that would have helped so many people.
1.2 million at the end of this week will be without benefits if a 2010 Unemployment Benefits Extension bill isn't reached.
What is the latest news on the 2010 Unemployment Benefits Extension? Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi says that a bill sent from the Senate concerning medicare cuts for doctors is inadequate-since it doesn't contain any provisions for the 2010 Unemployment Benefits Extension.
What does that mean for those who are without such benefits? It certainly means that it has been back to the drawing board. Democrat Max Caucus in the Senate(he is finance committee chair) now says that a deal might be "close". At least he might have the 60 votes, or getting close, in the Senate that the bill needs to be passed.
The 2010 Unemployment Benefits Extension has been put on hold for almost a month. The growing number of jobless Americans being added to the pool is not a good one.
What do we have to do to convince the Senate to pass this Unemployment Benefits Extension?
It's amazing that it hasn't already.
Many have been hurting thanks to the lack of empathy from our United States Senate. This bill should have passed, no questions asked, almost one month ago. The jobless Americans who have suffered during this period by not receiving those benefits deserve better.
Why someone who has only been unemployed for 26 weeks in this horribly job climate has to go without food/money and other essentials is still beyond me? The whole situation is quite inexcusable and I am not sure why it has happened this way.
President Barack Obama has been pushing for this emergency legislation much to no avail. Vice President Joe Biden also sees the need considering how many people are still hurting with the bad jobs market. Until new jobs are created, workers will have to keep sending out resumes. But those workers, or jobless Americans, deserve aid so they can look in the amount of time that may be required to look. Unfortunately, looking for jobs in this economy is no easy task.
Hopefully the United States Senate will get it together and pass this bill today-then it can go to the House for quick passage as well.
